It would be great to have a discussion on the mechanics of transitions in a battle! From my observations over the years of the likes of John Breznk (I'm thinking of Zloty 2004) Andy Barker and his "can opener" Ron Bath and the great Andreas Rundstrom, I have come to the conclusion that it is not the power of the arm that allows you to move into position but the positioning of the legs, hips and shoulder.

For example, John Breznk, at Zloty 2004, stopped Taras Ivakin inches from the pad having been top rolled in the strap and this is what he did. His traps lifted and held the match, he moved his hips and legs back behind his arm and pulled up from his hip and shoulder to the center of the table and won! He DID NOT panic and try to pull through on his bicep of try to hold all of the power on his arm while he moved his arm down to get in a position to top roll out...if he had done that he would have lost.

What do you all think? How can we implement this kind of training into our Monday night sessions?
